Notice of Effective Date

Title of Regulation: 1VAC20-40. Voter Registration (adding 1VAC20-40-80).

Statutory Authority: § 24.2-103 of the Code of Virginia.

Effective Date: September 30, 2011.

On July 6, 2011, the State Board of Elections adopted this regulation relating to requirements for registering to vote using the Federal Post Card Application (FPCA). The final regulation was published in Volume 27, Issue 24 of the August 1, 2011, edition of the Virginia Register of Regulations (27:24 VA.R. 2581 August 1, 2011) with an effective date upon filing a notice of the United States Attorney General's preclearance with the Registrar of Regulations or September 1, 2011, whichever is later. The State Board of Elections hereby notices the United States Attorney General's approval of this regulation via a letter dated September 23, 2011, from T. Christian Herren, Jr., Chief, Voting Section, to Joshua N. Lief, Esq., Senior Assistant Attorney General, Office of Attorney General of Virginia. The effective date of this regulation is September 30, 2011.
