TITLE 12. HEALTH
Notice is hereby given in accordance with § 2.2-4007.01 of the Code of Virginia that the State Board of Health intends to consider amending 12VAC5-590, Waterworks Regulations. The purpose of the proposed action is to amend the Waterworks Regulations (12VAC5-590) to comply with the amendments to § 32.1-169 of the Code of Virginia to adopt regulations establishing maximum contaminant levels (MCLs) for perfluorooctanoic acid (PFOA), perfluorooctane sulfonate (PFOS), and chromium-6, 1,4-dioxane, and such other perfluoroalkyl and polyfluoroalkyl substances (PFAS) as the board deems necessary. The board's intent is to review the occurrence and public health implications of PFOA, PFOS, chromium-6, and 1,4-dioxane in public drinking water in Virginia and to establish MCLs for each of the contaminants based on the results of the occurrence study completed in 2021.
The agency does not intend to hold a public hearing on the proposed action after publication in the Virginia Register.
