Notice of Extension of Public Comment Period

Titles of Regulations: 24VAC20-80. Overload Permit Regulations (repealing 24VAC20-80-10 through 24VAC20-80-50).

24VAC20-81. Hauling Permit Regulation (repealing 24VAC20-81-10 through 24VAC20-81-250).

24VAC20-82. Permit Regulations (adding 24VAC20-82-10 through 24VAC20-82-180).

Notice is hereby given that the Department of Motor Vehicles is extending the public comment period regarding the proposed regulatory action published in Volume 38, Issue 11 of the Virginia Register of Regulations, January 17, 2022. The Department of Motor Vehicles proposes repealing Overload Permit Regulations (24VAC20-80) and Hauling Permit Regulation (24VAC20-82), and promulgating a new set of regulations, Overload and Hauling Permits Regulation (24VAC20-81). The proposed action consolidates the existing regulations into one new chapter to more clearly describe permitting requirements, to bring the regulations into conformity with existing law, and to incorporate procedural changes adopted to enhance efficiency and user experience. The Department of Motor Vehicles is extending the public comment period to ensure that the regulated community has received notice of the proposed regulations and has had adequate time to review the proposed regulations and respond with comments.
