The Virginia Waste Management Board has WITHDRAWN the regulatory action for 9VAC20-81, Solid Waste Management Regulations, which was published as a Proposed Regulation in 38:13 VA.R. 1703-1822 February 14, 2022. The purpose of the proposed action, Amendment 9, was to update and clarify provisions for setback, siting, operation, and monitoring requirements for landfills; update open burn exemptions; promote composting; and improve closure cost estimates. On December 9, 2025, the board voted to withdraw this action.
