Notice is hereby given in accordance with § 2.2-4007.01 of the Code of Virginia that the Board of Dentistry intends to consider amending 18VAC60-20, Regulations Governing Dental Practice. The purpose of the proposed action is to amend the requirements for initial licensure and renewal of licensure to require passage of an examination on the laws and regulations governing the practice of dentistry. The goal of the planned regulatory action is to improve licensee familiarity with laws and regulations to facilitate compliance, reduce the number of complaints received, and eliminate some of the violations the board has found in adjudicating disciplinary matters.

The agency intends to hold a public hearing on the proposed action after publication in the Virginia Register.
