TITLE 16. LABOR AND EMPLOYMENT
Notice is hereby given in accordance with § 2.2-4007.01 of the
Code of Virginia that the Virginia Workers' Compensation Commission intends to
consider promulgating 16VAC30-16, Workers' Compensation Electronic Medical
Billing. The purpose of the proposed regulation is to establish standards
and methods pursuant to which employers, employers' workers' compensation
insurance carriers, and providers of workers' compensation medical services
adopt and implement infrastructure under which (i) providers of workers'
compensation medical services shall submit their billing, claims, case
management, health records, and all supporting documentation electronically to employers
or employers' workers' compensation insurance carriers and (ii) payers shall
return actual payment, claim status, and remittance information electronically
to providers that submit their billing and required supporting documentation
electronically. The proposed regulation will be consistent with the electronic
medical billing and payment guidelines of the International Association of
Industrial Accident Boards and Commissions. This regulatory action is intended
to satisfy the mandate of Chapter 621 of the 2015 Acts of Assembly.
The agency does not intend to hold a public hearing on the
proposed action after publication in the Virginia Register.
