Notice of Opportunity for Review and Public Comment on the 2026 §§ 305(b) and 303(d) Water Quality Assessment Integrated Report
The Virginia Department of Environmental Quality (DEQ) will release the Draft 2026 §§ 305(b) and 303(d) Water Quality Assessment Integrated Report on June 15, 2026, for public comment.
The Integrated Report combines the § 305(b) Water Quality Assessment and the § 303(d) List of Impaired Waters. Both are required by the federal Clean Water Act (33 USC § 1251 et seq.) and the Virginia Water Quality Monitoring Information and Restoration Act (§ 62.1-44.2 et seq. of the Code of Virginia). The report will be available for download at https://www.deq.virginia.gov/water/water-quality/assessments/integrated-report throughout the public comment period.
The public comment period begins June 15, 2026, and ends July 15, 2026.
A public informational webinar summarizing the Integrated Report is scheduled for July 7, 2026, at 10 a.m. The public is invited to submit questions pertaining to the report during this event. All submitted questions will be addressed in a comment response document that will be subsequently posted on the DEQ webpage. As required by the U.S. Environmental Protection Agency's 2022-2032 Vision for Clean Water Act § 303(d) Program, the 2026 Integrated Report also includes Virginia's § 303(d) Program Prioritization Framework, which describes long-term planning priorities for water quality restoration. Sections 6.1 and 6.2 of the report outline DEQ's priorities and approach to the § 303(d) Program. Appendix 8 of the report includes a listing of impaired waters prioritized for total maximum daily load or advance restoration plan development through 2028.

Pursuant to Chapter 13 (§ 28.2-1300 et seq.) of Title 28.2 of the Code of Virginia, the Marine Resources Commission (MRC) is hereby announcing that a public hearing will be held during the MRC meeting beginning at 9:30 a.m. on Tuesday, May 26, 2026, in the commission meeting room, 380 Fenwick Road, Building 96, Fort Monroe, VA 23651 regarding the construction and backfill of 80 linear feet of steel sheet pile bulkhead and installation of 65 linear feet of stone revetment at 5237 Pickett River Drive situated along the James River in Henrico County.
